The story of the first Jack'O Lantern, by Stephen Posch. A parable for our times.

Our world is feeling fragmented, and especially the USA is feeling like we’ve been driven into the wilderness by the bullies. But: I know what I’m telling myself next week if Kamala Harris is elected president. I know what I’m telling myself next week if Donald Trump is elected president. I know what I’m telling myself next week if we do not yet know who has been elected president. Because they are all the same thing.
We ask: ‘Help me to help my people. Help me to know what I can do.’
What are we, we who are earth honoring and deities relating, called to do in the world? What drum must we play? Who are we called to be? What songs must we sing? What can we learn from our ancestors and the story of the universe? Then, we will feed the hungry. We will set the captives free. We will make what meaning we can in the world. Let us shout from the rooftops what happens when we center love, dismantling hatred and oppression.
What reminds us to trust ourselves and each other?
